Parents Rise Up!

Dear John,

Season’s Greetings!

My name is Celeste Fiehler. I am a mother of five – two graduates and three children enrolled in public schools in the Coachella Valley. I am also the Deputy Director of the California Policy Center’s Parent Union.

Like many moms and dads, I was outraged by the governor’s wholesale closing of public schools in California. Through the Parent Union, I gathered “green shirt moms” for rallies demanding transparency and accountability in our local school districts. It worked: despite the opposition of the teachers’ union, our local school district reopened for in-person instruction four days a week.

The Parent Union gives parents a voice and a choice. This incredible grassroots organizing effort has become freedom’s answer to the teachers’ unions.

Our work looks different from place to place. In some places, we help parents exercise their right to move their children from failing schools to better ones; in others, we defend charter schools against the teachers’ union puppets who want to destroy them. And all across California, we’ve offered a constructive outlet for the outrage of parents of school-age kids locked out of schools for more than a year.

This last year has been an amazing season of growth and accomplishment. It was “The Year of the Parent,” as concerned families spoke out at school board meetings from California to Virginia.

The Biden administration called these dedicated moms and dads “domestic terrorists” for offering intelligent and impassioned objections to school lockdowns, mask and vaccine mandates, and the introduction of divisive race-based and gender curricula into K-12 schools.

But you and I know what these parents really are: good citizens, the backbones of strong communities.

The Parent Union has big plans for 2022 and beyond. With your help, we can train a Parent Union Ambassador in each of the state’s 58 counties. And we believe we can unite 100,000 parents throughout the state to fight for real school choice — bringing the power of markets to public education.

It’s a real honor to serve as Deputy Director of the Parent Union. We’re building something that is going to make a huge difference in the lives of California’s children. I hope you’ll consider making an end-of-year, tax-deductible contribution today to the California Policy Center to support this parent revolution!

Sincerely,

Celeste Fiehler
