This week marks the 31st anniversary of Rep. Neal’s election to the House. In the last three decades, he’s climbed the D.C. ladder expertly—but the power he’s accumulated hasn’t translated to improved outcomes for the people of Western Mass.

Instead, he’s consistently cozied up to—and gone the extra mile for—the corporations that funnel PAC money into his campaign account. As a result, over three decades, he’s done more to protect corporate interests and the failed status quo than he has for the people of Western Mass.

Just last week, Rep. Neal threw a birthday party for AIG, a financial group that helped destroy our economy in 2008, and that taxpayers had to bail out to the tune of $182 billion. And just two weeks ago, he sided with the pharmaceutical industry against lowering prescription drug prices for more people—even as millions of Americans, including many of our own residents, struggle to afford life-saving treatments.

Rep. Neal hasn’t done this once, or twice. These actions are part of a larger pattern—of big corporate money swaying political outcomes—that has let down an entire generation in the First District. But now, we have the opportunity to change course with bold action, increased accountability, and the people-first values that drive this campaign.

At this moment, we have the opportunity to finally change the narrative—of who we are, where we’re headed, and what we deserve—by building a strong, passionate grassroots movement right here in Western Mass.
