Hi John, it’s nice to meet you.
I’m Tamika Middleton — I recently became the Deputy Director of Women’s March and today I want to share with you why I’m proud to be a part of this team.
For years, I’ve been an organizer, birthworker, writer, and mama of two. I’ve spent a lot of my time advocating and fighting for reproductive justice and never have I ever seen the level of attacks we’ve witnessed this year in 2021 on abortion access.
It’s urgent we rise up together to the urgency of this moment and leverage our grassroots power if we want to change our current trajectory. That means organizing in Washington and across the country to make abortion legal, accessible and free for everyone — especially the Black and Brown communities hit hardest by restrictions.
It’s going to be an uphill battle — but I know that this is exactly the kind of work Women’s March does best. That’s how Women’s March ended Trump’s administration and this is how we’re going to overcome every challenge we face right now to make sure our politicians deliver meaningful change and protections for women.
From the Supreme Court refusing to strike down abortion bans like S.B. 8, to the record number of restrictions on accessing reproductive health care — we face an uphill battle in 2022 to defend our rights under Roe v. Wade.
But I know that Women’s Marchers are no strangers to hard work. Over the years, Women’s Marchers have made it clear that there’s nothing more powerful — and nothing more unstoppable — than women organizing together for justice and equity.
Thank you,
Tamika
