John,
When I launched my campaign for governor in 2018, I knew it was going to be a tough fight. We won by focusing on doing right by Kentuckians – improving access to health care, supporting our teachers, creating good-paying jobs, and just bringing back basic decency.
We shocked the whole country by winning an upset victory. We did it against an avalanche of big outside money trying to prop up the most unpopular governor in the country, who bullied rather than governed -- but who enjoyed the huge advantages of incumbency and partisan lean.
We won that race by treating everyone with respect and dignity, understanding that every community mattered, and organizing neighborhood by neighborhood, street by street. We knocked on doors that hadn’t seen a Democratic campaign in years. More than one million in fact.
Despite all the outside money, the false attacks, and divisive rhetoric, our shared Kentucky values of honesty, decency and looking out for each other won the day.
This was a huge grassroots victory. This team came together, beat the odds, and sent a message that Kentucky values transcend partisanship. Now, I'm running for re-election so we can continue to build the best possible future for every Kentuckian, and I'm counting on your support.
We're quickly approaching our first reporting deadline since I announced my re-election campaign and my team set a goal to raise $15,000 to end the year on a high note. Will you chip in $5, or whatever you can afford, before our deadline on Friday at midnight to help me continue making progress for Kentuckians?

I see the values of fairness, honesty, hard work, and doing right by our neighbors -- the same Kentucky values I was raised on -- reflected across our commonwealth. And I know we can win this re-election fight by highlighting the real results we are delivering for our people.
Since taking office, we've led Kentucky through record economic development, invested in education, restored voting rights, and protected health care access for nearly 100,000 Kentuckians -- all while working with leaders on both sides of the aisle to do what’s right for Kentucky. We've implemented our Better Kentucky plan to improve our water and sewer infrastructure, expand internet access, and provide Kentucky students the world-class public education they deserve.
And our economy is on fire. This year, we’ve shattered nearly every economic development record on the books. We’ve created more than 17,000 jobs through $11 billion in planned investment.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we did everything possible to keep Kentuckians out of harm's way, save small businesses, and protect essential workers. We put people over politics -- and made the tough decisions to help keep Kentuckians safe.
And now, even in the middle of this global pandemic, we’ve had our best economic year in recent history. We’re creating more jobs with better wages than ever before.
There's still so much work to do, especially as we rebuild our communities devastated by tornadoes and get folks back on their feet. But by coming together again and leaning on our values, I'm confident that we can continue fighting for teachers and our public schools. We can take on the opioid crisis and keep every community across Kentucky safe. We can continue to expand affordable health care and lower prescription drug costs. We can prioritize economic recovery and defeat COVID-19. We can make Kentucky the best it can be by putting families first and investing in our communities.
There's so much more to accomplish, and I'll need you by my side to do it. Chip in before our first fundraising report of this re-election campaign and help us end the year on a strong note.
