Washington Post: “Trump and his allies could pull down some of the guardrails that prevented him from overturning Biden’s win by creating openings to challenge the results next time.”
In our democracy, the winner of the electoral college wins the presidential election. Obstructionists shouldn’t be able to manipulate election laws to their advantage.
But we’re seeing frightening news in a recent Washington Post report -- the GOP is placing Trump allies in key administrative election posts in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. This could be an effort to ensure Trump can challenge the 2024 presidential election results if he loses once again.
The Freedom to Vote Act is full of provisions that would strengthen our electoral system and democracy. Will you chip in to support our advocacy work to get this bill passed in Congress?

With Trump loyalists in election posts across the country, we will need to all remain vigilant if Republicans like Donald Trump demand to subvert election results -- a plan that didn’t work in 2020 but could work next time.
Trump didn’t win at the ballot box -- and when Republicans like him can’t win fair and square, they resort to anti-democratic tactics such as map manipulation, voter suppression, and baseless legal challenges.
Here’s a scary scenario of what the worst GOP plan could be: manipulate the maps to cheat into a House majority, suppress the vote to steal a Senate majority, and place Trump allies in key administrative election posts to ensure a right-wing presidential victory in 2024.
Republicans are a minority power trying to hold onto majority power -- and they could be planning to hold sway over all three branches of government, not by winning more votes but by resorting to undemocratic schemes.
If Congress passes the Freedom to Vote Act, its tough anti-gerrymandering and pro-voter laws will be in place before the 2022 midterms and 2024 presidential elections. This bill would help stop a Republican plan to undemocratically capture the House, Senate, and White House.
Can we count on you to pitch in right now? We’re asking supporters to give $22 if they can spare it. We’ll put our end-of-year donations toward ensuring the GOP doesn’t win elections by manipulating maps, suppressing votes, and mounting baseless legal challenges.
