John, I know you’ve been getting more emails from us this week, and I know your inbox is crowded with so many asks.

I’ll keep this quick. Please, hear me out on this one, ok? Thank you.

In just a little less than three days, we’ll be hitting our midnight end-of-year deadline. This is our most important fundraising deadline of the entire year.

That is because Real Justice will have to close the books on what we’ve raised and report our numbers to the Federal Election Commission. Our opponents, who’ve launched unprecedented attacks this year against our leaders for justice, will be watching our numbers as a signal of our strength.

I want us to report strong numbers for that reason, for sure. But it’s not the only one, and not the most important.

The most important reason I want to report strong fundraising numbers is because the amount we raise RIGHT NOW will directly determine how big and impactful our plans for the year ahead will be. We are absolutely counting on a surge of year-end donations.

When I see donations from people like you come in response to emails like this one, it gives me hope, John.

It gives me hope to know that there are people who believe in our mission so deeply — our mission to end mass incarceration, elect leaders who will transform what justice looks like in this country, hold police accountable, and create real justice for our communities from the bottom up.
