Last night, former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid passed away.

He was one of the most ardent defenders of Social Security, fending off cuts from both Republican and Democratic politicians. Having grown up poor, he fought for health care. Having seen democracy threatened, he opposed the Koch Brothers...and the Senate filibuster.

Vox reports, "Before retiring, Harry Reid told Elizabeth Warren to run for president." He was very supportive of her behind the scenes at key points, and his advice was sought by many other candidates.

He will be deeply missed. Below are a few memories, including our press conference with Harry Reid as we fought together against cuts to Social Security. Other memories below are from AOC and former Senate staffers.

We are honoring a great leader and a great person today.
