2022 Preview: What We’re Watching in Sacramento

California hasn’t passed meaningful climate policy since 2018! With district lines set to change, redistricting, and an election next November, we need to make a move on climate action in these first few months of 2022. EnviroVoters Ed Fund Hails Successful California Redistricting Process

We praised the California Citizens Redistricting Commission’s final vote on Congressional, State Legislative, and Board of Equalization maps as unprecedented and successful. “These maps offer unique opportunities for California voters — who overwhelmingly support bold action on the climate emergency — to send leaders who share those values to Sacramento and Washington, D.C.,” said EnviroVoters' Matt Abularach-Macias.

Assemblymember Ash Kalra Joins EnviroVoters Ed Fund Board

Assemblymember Kalra (CA-27), who received an “A” rating in EnviroVoters’ 2020 California Environmental Scorecard, brings a long-standing track record on climate and environmental justice issues. “I look forward to furthering our partnership and working together to increase voter turnout, improve the state’s environmental and conservation policies, and protect the beautiful land that we call home,” he said.

Did You Know? 4% of Buildings in Los Angeles Use 50% of Power

The biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the City of Los Angeles is the built environment, meaning human-made buildings and structures where people live and work. Just a tiny percentage of buildings in our nation’s second-largest city are responsible for half of the total building energy use in the city. That’s why it’s so crucial for local governments like L.A. to require energy efficiency standards.
