John, it's hard to believe but we’re almost at the end of 2021 and Cori’s first year in office.
Even though Cori has been in Congress for less than a year — our movement has already accomplished so much and has set the groundwork to continue moving mountains. So today we want to share with you some of our most memorable accomplishments from 2021!
In January, during Cori's first week in office, she led the charge to impeach Donald Trump and expel insurrectionists from Congress after the white supremacist attack on the Capitol. Over 680,000 people signed Cori's petition to investigate and expel seditionist Republican Members of Congress.
In April, Cori introduced the Green New Deal for Cities with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to fund an expansive array of climate jobs and projects so that we can finally take meaningful action in response to the climate crisis.
In June, Cori introduced the People’s Response Act and outlined the change we need to transform public safety and save Black lives. Cori's bill is centered on public health and would make massive investments in community-led, health-based investments in public safety.
In August, Cori led a protest outside the Capitol for five days after the eviction moratorium expired. Organizers, supporters, and Cori's colleagues in Congress joined together to demand justice for the millions of families who were at risk to be forcibly removed from their homes — in the middle of a worsening pandemic.
In September, Cori testified in front of Congress and publicly shared for the first time that at the age of 17 she was raped, became pregnant, and chose to have an abortion. We’re proud of Cori’s bravery and know that if we continue sharing our stories — we can resist the GOP’s attempts to restrict abortion access in America.
For the past months, Cori and a handful of her progressive colleagues have been working hard to make sure we pass the Build Back Better Act with the transformative policies our communities need. Cori proudly held the line so that Congress can finally deliver meaningful change for those who need it most.
John, our work is just getting started. We know that there’s still so much we’re working toward, and we need your support so we can continue taking on big challenges in 2022.
Together,
Team Cori
