Hi friend, I’m Sheri — I lead United We Dream’s work on culture change.
Before I get into some of the work we’ve accomplished this year, will you please consider making a donation toward our end-of-year goal? We’re just under the halfway mark to our $20.22k goal, and we can’t afford to come up short with so much still at stake for immigrant communities.
You might be wondering, what does culture change work mean? At United We Dream, it can mean a few things: celebrating immigrant communities, self love, or even resilience.
Earlier this year, we launched our first ever Day of Immigrant Resilience to honor the resilience of immigrant communities who have been impacted by everything from detention and deportation, to COVID-19.
We capped off our Day of Immigrant Resilience by unveiling a mural in Washington, DC along with a resolution to officially recognize the day in the DC City Council.
This year, we also launched our first-ever zine, immigrant made. Our zine highlights the power of our creativity and our culture — full of stories written by emerging undocumented or immigrant writers and art pieces celebrating self love, our dignity, and our joy.
We have so much to be proud of as 2021 comes to a close. Looking ahead to 2022, we still have a lot of work ahead of us to remind the world that we are here to stay.
Whether it’s culture change efforts like a mural elevating the stories of immigrants or direct actions toward those with the power to deliver for our communities, United We Dream is counting on your support to power our work. Chip in $10 or more before Friday at midnight to help us reach our end-of-year fundraising goal.
