Veterans Day 2019

In honor of Veterans Day, the National Constitution Center will recognize the dedication and sacrifices of the brave people who have answered the Constitution’s call to “provide for the common defense.” Special events include a wreath laying ceremony, patriotic concerts, visitor “chats” with veterans, and engaging civic education programs.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, the National Constitution Center invites visitors to celebrate with a variety of special programs and activities, including the interactive “History of Thanksgiving” program which invites visitors to explore the origins and importance of this national holiday.
Visitors will learn about the story of the first Thanksgiving, the American Indians who were living in New England at that time, the foods that were eaten at early Thanksgiving dinners, how and when the day became a national holiday, and the background of our favorite Thanksgiving traditions—including football! Bring your appetite for knowledge and join us as we explore the history of Thanksgiving.

Watch the 2019 Liberty Medal Ceremony
The National Constitution Center honored Justice Anthony M. Kennedy with the 2019 Liberty Medal on Sunday, October 27. Justice Neil M. Gorsuch, Honorary Chair of the National Constitution Center, bestowed the annual award to Justice Kennedy for his efforts to educate Americans about the Constitution through civic education and civil dialogue.

Conversations with RBG: Book Talk and Signing with Jeffrey Rosen

Jeffrey Rosen unveils his newest book, Conversations with RBG: Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Life, Love, Liberty and Law—an informal portrait of the justice through an extraordinary series of conversations. With the justice's approval, Rosen has collected her wisdom from their many conversations in which she discusses the future of the Supreme Court and Roe v. Wade, her favorite dissents, the cases she would most like to see overruled, the #MeToo movement, how to be a good listener, and how to lead a productive, compassionate life. Dahlia Lithwick, veteran Supreme Court reporter, moderates. A book sale and signing with follow the program.

High school students across America are coming together to engage in civil dialogue about major constitutional questions that impact their lives.
Through the new Classroom Exchanges platform, the National Constitution Center pairs classrooms from across the country so students of of different backgrounds and perspectives can participate in civil dialogue around major constitutional issues. Facilitated by trained moderators through videoconferencing technology, the exchanges are providing students the skills and practice to become engaged citizens.
