Texans say: NO INCOME TAX!

Good morning!

Texans soundly rejected the misinformation campaign of the state’s teacher unions and establishment newspapers, thereby protecting Texas from an income tax.

Here is today's Texas Minute.

Of the 10 statewide propositions on the ballot last night, none was more significant than Proposition 4, “prohibiting the imposition of an individual income tax” on Texans. A massive misinformation campaign was launched by the Democratic Party, teacher unions, and the state’s dying establishment newspapers aimed at confusing voters and outright lying about the proposition.

For a while, some feared they might even be successful. After all, Republican lawmakers spent most of the 2019 legislative session cowering in fear of the liberal labor unions purporting to represent Texas’ public school teachers.

Fortunately, Texas voters overwhelmingly rejected the educrats’ pro-income tax agenda.

According to the Secretary of State’s office [[link removed]], 74.96 percent of Texans voted to ban an income tax! That’s a massive defeat for the state’s establishment media, the Democratic Party, and – of course – the educrats. More importantly, the passage of Proposition 4 is a win for the future of Texas.

As Brandon Waltens reports [[link removed]], nine of the 10 statewide constitutional amendments were accepted by voters.

The one that failed, Proposition 1, would have allowed an individual to hold more than one office as an elected or appointed municipal judge for multiple municipalities at the same time. As Waltens noted [[link removed]]: “With no real campaign for it... Texas voters failed to see any necessity for the change and rejected the measure.”

After five months of raging public controversy, high safety risks, and local government neglect, state officials have taken action in Austin – restoring a semblance of security for the capital city. Jacob Asmussen reports [[link removed]] on the initial efforts of the Texas Department of Transportation to clean up homeless encampments under highways, a directive from Gov. Greg Abbott as a response to the action—and inaction—of Austin city officials.

Today in History

On Nov. 6, 1891, a small group gathered in Houston for the organizational meeting of the Daughters of Female Descendants of the Heroes of '36. They shortly after renamed themselves the Daughters of the Lone Star Republic and then a year later Daughters of the Republic of Texas. The DRT continues to “educate, research, preserve, and protect the history of the Republic of Texas for all future generations.”

Quote-Unquote

“Texas is the finest portion of the globe that has blessed my vision.”
