Enough Project

Dear Supporter,

Earlier this year, our investigative team participated in a project called Congo Hold-up [ [link removed] ], which brought together media and investigative organizations from over a dozen countries spanning four continents to examine the largest data leak from the African continent. Together with our partners, we revealed how members of former President Joseph Kabila's inner circle abused their positions of power to plunder the Democratic Republic of Congo's public funds and natural resources.

We conducted two landmark investigations that expose the machinery of grand corruption in the DRC. The first was a deep dive into theft from government coffers [ [link removed] ], looking at how Kabila's allies abused the global financial system to stash their stolen funds in foreign real estate. The second showed how Congolese elites colluded with Chinese state-owned firms [ [link removed] ] on a massive deal for control of the DRC's mineral wealth, all while embezzling funds earmarked for desperately needed investments in roads, railways, and hospitals.

As a member of the Congo Hold-up collaborative, we used our investigative and technical expertise to help analyze over 3.5 million documents. This enabled our media partners to bring this captivating story to a global audience, building pressure on the Congolese government to implement critical reforms.

Through this unique collaboration, we are fighting to ensure that the DRC's public funds are spent properly and that the Congolese people reap the benefits of their country's natural resource wealth. We hope that you will join us in this fight by giving a gift to The Sentry today. [ [link removed] ]

*Every gift we receive from now until midnight on December 31 will be MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR. Your gift of any amount will have double the impact. [ [link removed] ]*

We're grateful for your support, and we hope that you will consider making an end-of-year gift today.

Sincerely,

J.R. Mailey
Director of Investigations
