Hello,

The old adage “absence makes the heart grow fonder” felt very appropriate for the first few holidays that my husband Michael was away on an extended deployment with the US Navy.

Over time, I suppose it became easier on both ends. Michael was able to throw himself into his work, and I had our children, Harris and Emma, and family friends to keep me busy. But the absence does still weigh on the memories. There is no hiding someone obviously missing from the Christmas or New Year’s photos.

It was part of the sacrifice we made together to serve our nation.

Now Admiral Michael Franken, my dear husband, is embarking on a new mission by running against Chuck Grassley for the U.S. Senate, and it’s yet another new type of service and sacrifice. Thankfully the Franken’s are all in this together. Now we just need to work to “make it so,” as my Navy guy would say.

My hubby never shies from a fight. Not even Chuck Grassley or Mitch McConnell’s Super PACs frighten him. And he will be an incredible Senator for Iowa. I know he will impress you as much as he did his former staff, crew, and associates. But if Michael is going to win against Chuck Grassley, he needs your help today.

Michael is facing his first FEC fundraising deadline at midnight December 31, and at this stage of the campaign, his candidacy will be measured and scrutinized by how much campaign funds he can raise.

Please help Iowa get a Senator the state needs. Make a donation right now to my husband’s campaign and help him defeat Chuck Grassley, turn Iowa blue, and protect the Democratic majority in the Senate. [[link removed]]

For the families who are apart this Holiday Season, be strong in the knowledge that today’s absence is tomorrow’s fondness. Also know that I speak for many in saying how thankful we are that another generation of individuals are keeping the wheels of industry going, society humming along, and our nation safe.

Warm wishes for peace, prosperity, and a helpful hand to those in need.
