Why I support the National Women’s Law Center.

Melissa Murray

Dear John,

As a journalist and documentarian, I believe that telling our stories is a powerful act. Throughout my career, I’ve worked to uncover and lift up the untold stories of women and communities marginalized by sexism, racism, and poverty.

Storytelling connects us and allows us to relate to one another as individuals. The power of stories can change hearts, minds, policy—even the trajectory of history.

In my work with the National Women’s Law Center, I’ve seen how a few individuals’ commitment to a cause can create profound change—for our communities, our loved ones, ourselves. I’ve seen how the Law Center fought for moms and working families at the height of the COVID crisis. I’ve watched how they’ve shown up for abortion providers and their patients in Texas, Mississippi, and at the Supreme Court. I’ve listened as they’ve amplified the voices and stories of the child care workers who form the backbone of our economy.

We need you with us. Today I hope you’ll join me and commit to supporting the Law Center’s work in the year ahead with a donation before the end of 2021.

NWLC needs your support in 2022

We still have a long way to go. Abortion access hangs in the balance. Working families’ budgets are stretched to the breaking point by child care costs, even as child care workers are underpaid and overworked. Slowing economic growth threatens to put women, especially Black women and Latinas, on a path of uncertainty and financial insecurity in 2022.

We must keep up the fight to defend abortion access for everyone, to find a permanent solution to the child care crisis, and to further economic, racial and gender justice. Your donation will inform what we can accomplish together in 2022 to push for urgent, tangible change to improve the lives of women and girls, to protect their rights, and to break new ground.

Right now, we're so close to our goal. We can’t let this moment pass, John. Can you make a gift now, while your impact can be doubled thanks to a match from a group of generous donors, to help us make it by deadline?

In solidarity in the fight for justice for her, and justice for all.
