Democrats have won both the House of Delegates and the State Senate—securing total control of the state government for the first time since 1993!

This is historic. And you helped make it happen.

Here’s how today’s election in Virginia broke down by the numbers:

-- Democrats have won 14 out of our 20 target races so far.
-- Of those, we’ve flipped 8 seats and held 6 critical swing seats.
-- Swing Left volunteers wrote more than 229,000 letters, knocked on 88,000 doors, made 39,000 phone calls, and raised more than $863,000 for Virginia candidates.

And incredibly:

-- 18 of our 20 target races look to be decided by a margin of 10% or less.
-- 98% of our grassroots donations and 78% of our letters supported the closest races (decided by 10% or less).

Flipping the Virginia legislature means Democrats can finally pass progressive legislation like gun control, education reform, and the Equal Rights Amendment. And district maps rigged by Republicans can be dismantled—drawing fair electoral maps in Virginia for the next decade.

These wins are a major blow to Trump, and sent the GOP a clear message: Democrats are fired up and ready to take them on in 2020.

And so are we. The blue wave starts with Virginia—and it’ll be fueled by the energy, passion, and commitment of people like you.
