Sometimes, it’s really hard to explain what I do for a living or why it's important to the nonprofits I’ve worked with.

Ironically, all the caregivers I know are in the exact same situation — I get the same level of confusion when explaining both of my roles! As I’m sure you know, it is only when I talk about what caregiving entails — medication scheduling and check ins, bathing, changing, doctors appointments, etc. — that people actually understand what caregiving is.

Caring Across has been building our community of activists, allies, and fellow caregivers for the last decade through organizing activities, policy research and advocacy, as well as culture change tactics. All of these ‘roots’ have fed and supported our own ‘tree of life’ — which continues to blossom and grow, changing the very parameters of what we thought was possible before this year.

Our tree is rooted in building people power, and has led us to a moment where public opinion is driving care infrastructure support in Build Back Better. That’s the power of our caring majority — your power!
