Hi! My name is Katie. And I'm writing for two reasons:
First, as a Special Olympics mom, I'm writing to let you know that there's a very special gift offer happening right now — when you make a year-end donation right now, it can go three times as far to help athletes around the world! That’s pretty cool, and I hope you’ll triple your gift if you can!
The second reason I’m writing is that I really want to introduce you to my son, Ethan:
Like 200 million other people around the world, Ethan is living with an intellectual disability (ID). We don't know exactly what caused it, and we've given up trying to get a precise diagnosis — instead, we're focused on meeting Ethan's needs.
And let me tell you, one of Ethan's needs is that he NEEDS to move. He used to (actually he still does) run around the backyard in circles until he’s drenched in sweat. One day when he was 8, I put my fitness tracker on him, and he'd logged over 40,000 steps — that's 20 miles.
So imagine Ethan's joy when we moved to North Carolina and discovered Special Olympics. It had an enormous impact on BOTH of our lives! That first spring, Ethan ran on the Special Olympics track team, and he just ate it up. The relationships he formed were so meaningful to him.
That’s the transformative power of Special Olympics and that's EXACTLY what your 3x gift can do today for people like Ethan. It can lay the foundation for people with ID to be embraced by a community where they can find acceptance. If you've ever been to a Special Olympics event, you've seen this happen yourself — it's really the most incredible feeling.
I am grateful for Special Olympics support and I know they are grateful for yours. If you have the ability to give, your TRIPLE MATCHED gift would mean so much to my family and millions of Special Olympics families around the world. This is such an awesome chance to help athletes like Ethan and so many others in your own community — make your tripled gift now, and let's make 2022 the best year EVER for Special Olympics!
Thank you so much for letting me share my story. And thanks for being a supporter of Special Olympics! We're really grateful.
Sincerely,
Katie P.
