Proto to Lamont: “End the charade of Covid Emergency Policy.”


Hopped up on a Holiday high from his superspreader holiday party, where attendees were required to be vaccinated and show a negative COVID test, Governor Ned Lamont had a rare moment of honesty and said ([link removed]) that masks do not curb the spread of COVID-19. Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Ben Proto issued the following statement:


“This pandemic has been an especially taxing experience for Connecticut’s youngest residents as they try to navigate the world blindfolded to non-verbal or social cues during important, formative years of their lives,” said Proto. “Connecticut’s Democrat leaders have made it no easier by enforcing restrictive mandates and invoking a culture of division and fear among neighbors, peers, and family members. If he does not believe that masks can sufficiently protect our children, then why continue the flawed policy and belief system, which is having a negative impact on these kids’ childhoods? These decisions, feigned to be in 'our best interest' are actuallycreating a counter crisis ([link removed]) for the mental health, well being and development of our children.”


“Even as Lamont admits that masks do not curb the spread, just last month he enacted a policy whereby school children and school staff who were exposed to COVID but could remain in school ([link removed]) unless and until they showed symptoms, at which point others have come into contact. What was the point of the masks? Where is the logic in his policies? Lamont removed the rights of parents and replaced them with his own senseless power-grabs,” said Proto. “The haphazard policy positions, which sometimes require each town to decide how to move forward or, with the case of schools, the Governor setting a one size fits all pronouncement, continues to confuse and frustrate the public and have led to a huge increase in positive test results.”

“Connecticut parents should have the right to decide if their own children are masked or not at school, not the government. Unfortunately, politicians have snatched two years of students' academic lives and, for the youngest among them, the most formative years. Our government and our Governor have failed the children of Connecticut,” concluded Proto.
