John, right now our democracy is still under siege. Republican attacks on our democracy didn’t end with the former president. In fact, I fear they have only begun.

The midterms will be a litmus test on whether Democrats can stand up to the dangerous impulses of the GOP. Especially those on the fringes. Some of those individuals are running to unseat my colleague Matt Cartwright.

Here’s the deal: we need to hold Matt’s seat in the midterms. Not only to prevent the Speaker's gavel from falling into the hands of Kevin McCarthy, but also to stop any more insurrectionists in suits and ties — like the ones who voted to overturn the last election — from walking the halls of Congress. We cannot let extremism, conspiracy, and lies win in 2022.

That’s exactly why I’m emailing you today. Matt is coming up on his final FEC filing deadline of the year and in order to win in the midterms, he must go into the new year with strength.

Pennsylvania’s 8th district is one of the most competitive in the country, and political forecasters have predicted it’s about to become even more of an uphill battle for a Democrat. Republicans have already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on attack ads against Matt, and the floodgates are about to open in 2022.

Not only that, but his opponents are reaching out to a web of far-right internet outlets and dark money donors to flood their campaigns with tons of cash – it could spell disaster for Matt if these dark forces can prevail.
