In just a moment, I am going to ask you to split a donation between my re-election campaign, and Rob Bonta’s campaign for Attorney General of California. Please give me a chance to explain why this request – especially today – is so important.

When I appointed Rob as our state’s Attorney General, it was because we needed leaders like him who have the courage, energy and tenacity to shape a society more reflective of our values.

He has done a great job, including leading a multi-state effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, fight organized retail theft rings, and he will help lead our work using the Texas anti-abortion law to keep guns off our streets in California.

But his effectiveness in taking on powerful interests makes him a target.

Both of us have an official end-of-year fundraising deadline coming up, and the same forces who led the far-right recall will be trying to defeat both of us in the year ahead.

So I am asking:

Can you please split a $3 contribution between Rob Bonta’s campaign for Attorney General and my re-election campaign for Governor? It all adds up when everyone is chipping in.
