As we close out 2021, the First Star team is reflecting on how much the continuing pandemic has changed our students' lives. It's been a challenging year, but amidst this sustained uncertainty and stress, we have also been given opportunities to forge a new path forward and witnessed the youth we serve thrive despite the circumstances.

This past year, First Star has been able to offer micro-grants to Alumni to help with food, tech, health & hygiene, and living necessities. Your support will allow us to start 2022 off on a strong footing, ensuring that we can continue to offer these supports, and help create the conditions that enable the youth we serve to succeed.

Earlier this month, First Star CEO Lyndsey C. Wilson was featured on Fox 11 LA's show In Depth with Hal Eisner. The show focused on 'Heroes in Foster Care' and highlighted the important work that First Star is doing to make sure that youth in care succeed in high school and thrive as they transition into adulthood. The segment also featured First Star Ambassador Devin Alexander's personal story of adoption through the foster care system and how that inspired her to work with us.
