News from Representative Allred

December 28, 2021

Dear Friend,

I know 2021 proved to be another challenging year for many North Texans as we continued to face public health and economic challenges brought on by the pandemic. Yet, in 2021 we also began to build back better than before, working with the Biden Administration to deliver a much-needed relief package to put money in folks’ pockets, shots in arms and get kids back in school safely, and passing a landmark infrastructure plan to reduce congestion and modernize our infrastructure.

To deliver these results, it was critical to work together with both Republicans and Democrats in Congress. That’s why 78% of the bills I cosponsored are bipartisan. At home here in North Texas and in Washington, my focus is always on serving you.

As your Representative, I am accountable to you. Please check out my full End of Year Report and the graphic below for a glimpse at our year by the numbers.

My team of constituent advocates and I have been busy helping North Texans with issues they have with the federal government. In 2021, we closed more than 1,027 cases for North Texans, helping them with Medicare and Social Security, small business assistance, veterans benefits, passport issues and so much more. We were able to recover more than $1.1 million in money and benefits owed to our constituents by the federal government!

Last year we opened the Garland VA Medical Center, and now I am working in a bipartisan way to expand that facility to better serve our veterans, create jobs and expand health care access for North Texans. My legislation to create a new Spinal Cord Injury Center at the Dallas VA was also signed into law.

Earlier this year I helped pass a historic pandemic relief bill, the American Rescue Plan, which ensured that every American had access to a safe, reliable and free vaccine. We provided relief checks, extended aid for small businesses and expanded the Child Tax Credit to help North Texans weather this crisis.

I also fought to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan into law, which will create jobs and reduce congestion here in North Texas. And I will keep working to pass legislation to lower costs for middle-class families, including the cost of prescription drugs, health care, child care and pre-k.

I am also working hard to protect our democracy, by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the Freedom to Vote Act. These bills will ensure that no one faces discrimination at the ballot box or has their vote diluted by partisan gerrymandering.

I look forward to another productive year and hope you’ll stay connected to my office.  My team and I are always here to answer your questions and help with any issues you have with federal agencies. If you would like to contact me, please send an email, or call my office at 972-972-7949.

I wish you and your family a happy and healthy new year!

Sincerely,
