Hi Revealer,
We have a name here at Reveal for who we want to investigate: Big Targets.
We’re investing a lot of money, stress and – frankly – risk in each story we decide to take on. We’re doing this at a time when the world is facing generations-altering challenges, like creeping authoritarianism, the backsliding of civil rights across the board and a rapidly changing climate.

That’s why we want our reporters focused on the absolute most powerful players. The problems we face are too urgent and consequential. We need your support to confront them head on, with ambition, in 2022.

I’m proud to say we met that challenge this year. We got our hands on their confidential documents. We obtained recordings no one from the public had heard before. We watched body camera footage they wanted to keep buried. We asked them the hard questions.
We exposed their most guarded secrets, and it made a difference.
Here’s a rundown of some of those Big Targets we pursued this year:
- Amazon, one of the world’s most influential corporations
- The justice system – past and present – that botched the investigation into a football star’s mysterious death
- The peddlers of the viral lies that threaten our democracy and our health
- The politicians, police, prosecutors and judges who let domestic abusers keep their guns – and then kill
- A global energy giant releasing harmful toxic gas next to day cares
- The sheriff’s deputy who tased a young refugee with little provocation
- The major sugar company exploiting Haitian workers in the Dominican Republic
- The Treasury Department and Small Business Administration’s racially unequal response to COVID-19

But we need to go even bigger in 2022. The challenges are even greater and the world needs journalism organizations like ours to meet the challenge. As a nonprofit, we rely on your generosity to do this important work, and we don’t have much time left. Please donate today.
Until Dec. 31, if you start a new monthly donation of at least $9, we’ll send you a Reveal keychain as a sign of our gratitude. Please don’t wait – we are running out of time.
