This year, scientists found that plastic pollution is on course to double by 2030.1 At our current pace, by the end of the decade plastic will even be worse for the climate than coal.2

We may have learned a lot of grim facts about plastic this year, but 2021 has also given us hope that we can tackle the waste crisis and move beyond plastic.

This year, we helped lead the charge to ban some of the worst single-use plastics in Colorado, Washington and Virginia. In Maine and Oregon, we also helped pass the first producer responsibility laws in the country and an important truth in recycling law in California.

And that's just the beginning.

We're committed to moving beyond plastic and making even more progress in 2022, but we need your help. Make an end-of-year gift to help us continue working to end the plastic waste crisis.

From passing bans on the worst single-use plastics, to calling on companies including Amazon, Whole Foods and Costco to reduce their use of single-use plastics, we're committed to tackling the plastic crisis from every angle.

• Build critical support for powerful federal legislation, the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act, to protect our land, water and air from plastic pollution, making a safer country for us all.
• Ban the worst single-use plastics and adopt producer responsibility legislation in even more states.
• Get major companies such as Amazon to phase out single-use plastic packaging, starting an industry-wide shift to keep unnecessary plastic out of our lands and waters.

This year, we've taken some important steps toward a zero-waste world, and we're ready to secure more major wins in 2022. But we can't do it without you, Friend.
