John – It’s that time again… the holidays, the new year, and our end of year fundraising deadline.
This is the FINAL fundraising deadline of the year and our last chance to close 2021 out strong – because starting January 1, we are officially in an election year!
In the new year, all our fundraising numbers will go public and anyone who wants to can comb through them looking for vulnerability. There is a lot of gossip and attempts to read the tea leaves with these reports as pundits and opponents put them under a microscope in an attempt to shape their own narrative.

CT-05 has long been a target of the GOP strategists looking to make inroads in Connecticut. It’s the state’s only purple district, with a 50/50 Democratic and Republican voter split.
Nationally, this seat is a bellwether. If the GOP flips CT-05, you can be sure they have flipped enough seats to regain control of the House. We won’t let that happen.
That is why this deadline is so important. If we can head into 2022 with a strong fundraising report, it will be a clear indicator that Democrats are holding strong – in the 5th District and elsewhere.
But if the numbers are lower than expected, the GOP will jump at the opportunity to fill that gap with negative ads, nasty mailers, and more misinformation – all geared at distracting people from focusing on how Jahana and her Democratic colleagues have been successfully pulling our country out of some of its darkest days.
