Yesterday Mandela announced our campaign's goal of reaching 5,000 donations during these final days before the FEC fundraising deadline.

We're doing great so far...we just have one small problem.

While lots of people are chipping in, our average donation has dipped, which means less money raised overall. As a result, we're not on track to meet our December fundraising goal.

So we have two choices:

1. We need a larger number of donations to keep pace.


2. We need to ask people to give slightly more than they normally would to help close the gap.

Normally when we ask people to make their first donation to the campaign, we ask for $3. But today we're going to ask you for $10. Because the truth is that we rely on the response to emails like this one to help fund the campaign.

Can you please make a $10 contribution to stand with Mandela today? We need to have a big day today to stay on track to reach our goals.

We know this is a big ask, and we understand that not everyone is able to give today.

But if you're someone who can afford it, we hope you'll consider contributing to stand with Mandela before this FEC deadline. Or perhaps contribute on behalf of someone else who would like to, but doesn't have the means to do so right now.

Because as long as we are all in this together, we are going to elect Mandela Barnes to the U.S. Senate. That's why your contribution today is so important.
