Dear John,
Earlier this year, First Liberty won a critical victory for Pastor Jarvis Baker and Canaan Baptist Church, a small congregation located in the City of Duncanville, TX, just outside of Dallas. This is an example of the many cases about which you might not hear.
Duncanville officials attempted to seize the church’s property through eminent domain. The reason? The city wanted to build a fire station—when a fire station already existed right across the street from the property.
But thanks to your generous support, First Liberty stepped in to stop this assault resulting in the city’s announcement that they would no longer seek to strip away the church’s property.
This means Pastor Jarvis Baker and his congregation are free to continue worshipping and using the property to better serve the Duncanville community.
Pastor Jarvis Baker wanted to personally thank you for your generous support and let you know how much it means to him:
This steadfast shepherd is another unwavering person of faith that we want to induct into our client Hall of Faith for his willingness to fight for his church’s right to worship. When people of faith like Pastor Jarvis stand up for their rights, every American’s right to religious liberty is protected, allowing us all to live in liberty.
We can’t continue fighting on behalf of churches like Canaan Baptist without your generous gifts. YOU are the one who’s making a difference—for Canaan Baptist Church, and for thousands of houses of worship across the country.
Right now, you can multiply the impact of your gift. Our $450,000 year-end Challenge Grant means every dollar you give will be maximized until we reach that total, so we can reclaim religious freedom for even more people of faith across the country in 2022.
Please give now before time runs out at midnight on December 31st.
Gratefully, Kelly
