Dear John, You are being lied to. That may not be the best way to start an email, but as fellow citizens in the fight to preserve our Republic, you and I must be honest with each other. Far too few people are willing to be honest about the state of things these days. Every single day, you and I are fed a steady diet of lies from self-serving politicians and the algorithms of social media sites. And then there are lies spun daily by what some (wrongly) call the “mainstream” media. But let us put that first lie to rest. Definitionally, those legacy outlets are not mainstream, as evidenced by their declining sales, diminishing market penetration, and nonexistent economic viability. If the newspapers and networks that are so casually labeled “mainstream” actually were, they wouldn’t be laying off reporters or seeing their circulations and viewership diminish. They lie about the facts of events. They lie about what they believe. They even lie about what you believe! This is why Texas Scorecard exists. We are unabashedly purpose-driven in our journalistic mission. We write not just to educate and inform, but to arm Texans with the facts and point them to the crucial fights. We exist to serve you, and our fellow citizens, to advance self-governance. You’ll find this concept rooted in our mission statement: “to disrupt statism and reconstitute self-governance by changing the Capitol and lobby-centric political culture so citizens can impose agendas on politicians.” You’ve heard this from us before: Someone is always keeping score in politics; we think it ought to be the citizens. And yet, we can only carry out this mission with your financial support. We don’t take government grants or handouts. We aren’t the loss-leader for some multi-national corporation. We aren’t beholden to advertisers. And if we’re to serve our fellow Texans, we cannot hide our content behind paywalls. In these final days of 2021, will you join me in making a generous, tax-deductible contribution to Texas Scorecard? You can give online, or by sending a check to the address below. If you send a check, would you mind making sure it is postmarked before Friday afternoon? We would love to have your gift in hand so we can truly start the new year strong. Simply put, Texas Scorecard cannot exist without your support. Your support is what makes the fight for liberty in the Lone Star State possible. Thank you! Texas Scorecard |
