This past weekend, we held a rally where we announced our New Deal For Education, and we received the endorsement of a fearless progressive champion and reformer, Zephyr Teachout.

Zephyr has stood up to the Democratic establishment at times when few others were willing to do so. Her campaign for governor in 2014 helped jump start the progressive wave in New York State, and her visionary campaign for Attorney General put restorative justice front and center.

Zephyr also shares my commitment to providing a quality public education – one that educates the whole child. She stood with us in support of the opt-out movement, and dismantling common core. She is a true ally in our fight for a more just and progressive education system, and I highly encourage you to watch her full remarks.

We believe that transformative leadership for our children and families needed in Washington. This is about helping thousands across the district and millions across the country.

This is about giving every child what they need to succeed, regardless of background and experiences.

This is why I am running for office. To continue the collaborative leadership movement that we have built in education beyond the walls of our school. To right the wrongs of political neglect and engage everyone in the process.
