Friend,
The top global advertising agencies just announced that they project
that more than $700 billion will be spent on corporate media advertising
worldwide in 2022.
Think about that. Seven. Hundred. Billion. Dollars. It's jaw-dropping.
That's money coming directly from Big Oil, drug companies, Wall
Street, Big Tech, the insurance industry, and other giant corporations,
to literally pay the salaries of the journalists reporting the news
every day.
What are the chances that they will tell their consuming audiences the
terrible truth about how Big Oil is destroying the climate or how drug
companies and big banks are ripping off ordinary people every day?
Zilch. Zip. Zero. It'll never happen. Ads aren't just about selling
stuff-they are about buying influence and purchasing
corporate-friendly narratives.
This is why the independent, nonprofit journalism of Common Dreams is so
critical in these dangerous times. But we simply can't do it without
you.
Will you chip in with a tax-deductible gift to support our independent
