Dear Friend,
As we approach year-end, I have to take a moment to share my warmest thanks for your enduring support for the work of DC Jobs with Justice (DC JWJ). I am so proud of the work we have achieved together and hope you will continue to support us by making a donation to continue our work in the year ahead.
This year, DC JWJ organized to ensure the needs of communities of color, immigrants and other disenfranchised residents were central to policymaking decisions and allocation of public dollars. We continued to stand with striking workers, low-income and communities of color, and coalitions working toward an economically and socially just DC region.
Highlights of our work in 2021 include: ?
- Ensuring Tenants could access stay-DC funds to prevent evictions
- A moratorium on voluntary agreements, protecting many of our most vulnerable rent controlled tenants.
- 41 million dollars for excluded workers
- Preserving and Strengthening Paid Family
The disproportionate economic and health impacts of the pandemic on poor and communities of color, makes our work to protect the rights of working people and promote racial justice an imperative in this moment.
And we still have more to win! Our fights for hero pay and to extend the rent freeze have not yet succeeded but we are committed to continuing that work in 2022, and we know that with your support we can be victorious.
Please help us build power by mobilizing our community in 2022 by donating today.
With your support, we will continue to build towards our vision of a just and equitable DC.
In solidarity and resistance,
Yael Shafritz
Interim Executive Director
DC Jobs With Justice
