Friends -
I’m emailing today to ask you to make your first online $3 contribution to our campaign. I hope you’ll take a minute and give me a chance to explain why this request is so important — especially today.
Here’s the situation:
Just 4 days from now, we’re closing the books on our end-of-year FEC fundraising deadline. When it’s over, we’re legally required to report not just how much money we’ve raised this quarter, but how many donations we’ve received as well.
It’s that second number that I care most about — the one that shows how many people across the country stand with our campaign and the ideas that make our movement so special.
As you may know, the vast majority of the contributions we receive and the money we raise comes from small-dollar, grassroots donors chipping in what they can.
That’s how we funded our campaign in 2020. It’s how we were able to organize and mobilize an unprecedented movement around our bold progressive agenda. And it’s how we won.
But that important work continues. We must keep growing that movement, and building support for that agenda nationwide. And the truth is that it takes resources — especially as the fossil fuel lobbyists with their deep pockets keep close tabs on our every move.
What do you say?
Between the ever-growing climate crisis and continuing our fight for a Green New Deal, protecting abortion rights, abolishing the filibuster, and expanding the Supreme Court...there’s a lot of important work ahead of us.
Thanks in advance for your contribution today if you’re able. Your support is what keeps us in the fight.
In solidarity,
Ed Markey
P.S. This deadline is going to be a big one, and we can’t afford to come up short. If you can afford it, a $3 donation would go a long way toward reaching our end-of-year goals. Thank you.
