I wanted to take a moment to share my story;

I was raised in a working-class household in Chicago.

My mother worked day and night to provide a better life for my sisters and me all by herself.

Her sacrifice inspired me to study hard and make it to Harvard and eventually Congress.

I know from personal experience how hard it is for working families to get ahead in America. And I know it’s only getting harder.

I’m coming to you, because I need your help to fight for families like mine:

The GOP, as we speak, is trying to block legislation that will provide relief to millions of families. I need the resources -- $5,371 before midnight -- to block these regressive Republicans and elect Democrats who’ll fight for everyday Americans. Can you help me and chip in $11 now? >>

I won’t lie, it won’t be easy.

I’ve witnessed Republicans tear down legislation to help families like mine. They could very well continue to do so if we don’t take a stand at this moment.

I’ve been up against the odds before and I know what is possible when individuals come together to fight for what is right.
