Dear Friend,

The 2000s saw big change and big transitions for POV, the biggest of which was our complete re-brand and name change! LACAAW is now Peace Over Violence ([link removed]) , a name that is more than a name. It is a vision, and an inclusive engine and voice for change. Calista Flockhart supported as our first National Spokesperson, bringing celebrity and attention to our work. The 2000s also saw Denim Day expand to a national campaign, Denim Day USA, increasing sexual violence prevention education awareness across the country. POV launched its Legal Advocacy Project, providing free legal services to survivors and their families. We forged partnerships and created direct response Sexual Assault Response Teams (SART) and Domestic Abuse Response Teams (DART). We participated in rape kit backlog crisis advocacy. And we launched Violence Prevention Specialist training for community outreach experts and volunteers.

POV has accomplished so much in the last five decades. As much as there has been progress, there is still so much left to do… and we are not done. We are constantly expanding and adapting to meet the ever changing needs of the communities we serve and to participate in the necessary solutions.

DONATE ([link removed])
We know survivors’ greatest need during times of crisis is direct cash assistance. Fifteen percent of all money raised during this year-end campaign will go to our Survivors Direct Assistance Fund, distributed to survivors in the Los Angeles area.
