Dear John,
It’s wild to think that just a year ago, I was getting ready to start my new job as executive director of Equality Federation. Oh what a year it was.
2021 started off with an insurrection at our nation’s capitol and ended with record-breaking numbers of anti-transgender bills in the states. Despite the highs and (many) lows of 2021, I could not be more proud to lead this organization.
I started at the Federation in 2012 and have been a key part of its expansive growth in staff and programs ever since. We were able to continue that growth in 2021 by drastically expanding our policy team, adding two new staffers to our development and communications teams, and bringing in new funding to help our state partners fight upcoming anti-LGBTQ+ attacks.

We are so thankful and inspired by the work of state partners and advocates; they are truly heroic individuals who work day in and day out to build a more equitable and more just society for LGBTQ+ people.
While we know 2022 will be tough, we will be ready. Equality Federation is rising to meet this challenge with more staff, resources, and grit than ever.
Between battles for trans rights in the states and the battle for reproductive justice at the Supreme Court, 2022 is going to be a decisive year in the history of our country. I’m grateful you’ll be there with us along the way.
