Dear Friend,
Will we continue to consider workers in health care, retail, and many more service sectors as essential, just like we did at the height of the pandemic?
At Jobs With Justice, we refuse to forget. We know that pandemic or not, working people are Always Essential, especially those who have always kept our economy running and are long overdue the right to living wages and basic health protections.
Together with our partners of the Always Essential campaign, we will continue to fight until essential workers everywhere have the long-term protections they deserve -- now and beyond the pandemic.
Will you chip in $5 or more to support Jobs With Justice’s efforts to fight for ALL workers’ dignity and respect? Thanks to our generous friends at Ullico Inc, who also value worker dignity and respect, the first $15,000 in gifts will be MATCHED!
In recent months, we've seen workers take collective action and go on strike. From Striketober to Strikesgiving and beyond, workers continue to stand up for the dignity, respect, and protections they deserve. They know full well what's at stake.
Across industries, workers won't forget what happens when they're left without basic health and safety protections, leaving them vulnerable to injury, illness, or worse. While workers faced monumental challenges earning enough to cover the basics like food and rent, billionaire bosses raked in astronomical profits. And while CEOs counted their profits, they continued to deploy exploitative practices against workers, especially Black and brown workers who comprise most of the workers in the service industry.
Jobs With Justice stands up and fights for these workers, and we've reached a turning point that goes beyond the strikes and collective actions.
This year our Always Essential campaign celebrated historic victories in several key places, including New York, Ohio, and perhaps most notably in Harris County, Texas. Frontline workers will lead the first-of-its-kind Essential Workers Board, which will help set health and safety standards across sectors, protect workers, and offer a model for what essential workers can achieve in communities across the United States.
Yet, the challenges ahead remain immense. Millions of workers remain exploited by a rigged system, and thousands of union workers will be out of contract next year and will need our help more than ever.
Please help us support local fights like this by donating today as workers prepare to take their fights into the new year.
In Solidarity,
