Folks,
As the year draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on why I decided to run for Congress.
I’m running because I want to be part of creating the future our kids deserve. I’m running because I believe that elected office is both a way to serve and to make a difference. I’m running because there is a lot that is broken in our country and politics right now and I believe that we will find our way forward together by doubling down on the values we hold most dear – love, hope, empathy, and justice.
Folks just like you have stepped up with us because you want to make a difference, too.
I’m going to share more about what this all means to me in just a moment – but first, I want to talk about our FEC deadline.
We set a goal of $50,000 and we’re $29,370 away from reaching it. Will you chip in $25 or more to help us meet our goal so we can post a strong FEC report going into the new year?

Before I launched my campaign for Congress, my wife, Meghann, and I had a lot of conversations about what this would mean for us and our kids as a family. Especially for our kids.
To be completely transparent: campaigning can be an intense experience. It means a lot of time on the road. Early mornings getting ready to travel and knock on doors across different counties and late nights huddling with our team to assess our daily progress toward fundraising goals. Meghann and I both work and this would mean even more juggling.
But what ultimately convinced me to begin this journey was that I could picture a better future for my kids and kids across WNC with me in Congress. The reality is that WNC is not being represented in Congress right now, and we haven’t been meaningfully or well represented for quite some time. Countless opportunities to fight for and pass policies that will help people have been lost because of this.
I want my children to grow up in a world that’s safe. Where people can be who they are, can love who they love, can build the life they dream. Where everyone has access to affordable healthcare, and where climate change isn’t an overwhelming threat to our future.
But none of these things exist under Madison Cawthorn’s extremist vision for North Carolina - and they won’t. His brand of politics is focused on toxic division, spreading lies, and building his brand.
It’s not about service, leadership, or making a difference.
I’m running for Congress because we owe it to our kids to create a future that’s worth fighting for. Our end-of-year goal is critical to making sure we have the resources we need to take extremism head-on.
I can’t reach our FEC end-of-year goal without you. Will you donate $25 or more to help us hit the ground running for 2022?
