We’re launching a campaign to tell members of Congress: GET IN THE ROOM! Contact your lawmakers now! Friend, On Sunday, over 1,000 people, members of Congress and presidential candidates all sang from the same songbook at the No Labels Problem Solver Convention: America is too important to let hyper-partisan division tear us down. The convention was the largest gathering of undeclared New Hampshire voters in the 2020 election cycle, and it featured both a presidential primary straw poll and an audience-wide focus group conducted by nationally renowned polling expert Frank Luntz. We got in the Room in Manchester to call on our leaders to do the same. The convention kicked off our GET IN THE ROOM! Campaign to demand our elected leaders commit to attending monthly bipartisan meetings. This year, No Labels has sponsored regular, off-the-record meetings between members of both parties and from both Senate and House in Washington. Ask the members who have been attending these meetings and they will tell you it’s one of the rare times when our democracy actually feels like it is working. And suddenly, these meetings are taking on a new importance. No Labels believes attending these bipartisan bicameral meetings is a tangible and measurable step senators and representatives can take to show their constituents they want to be part of the solution. The Room is where things get done and deals are struck as compromise and bipartisanship lead. Every incentive members of Congress have is to stay out of that room, to play to their bases, to focus on winning primaries in their district. You are the incentive that can get your members of Congress in that room. They must hear your voice now. Click here to tell your members of Congress to Get In The Room right now! There was drama in the room on Sunday. We held a straw poll among undecided New Hampshire voters -- and the results were interesting. Mayor Pete Buttigieg captured 18.5% of the vote, with Tulsi Gabbard at 17.5% and John Delaney at 14.2% – representing a population of undecided voters who are looking for something new. Frank Luntz hosted the largest focus group ever -- and he remarked “This is the first time I have been optimistic in years – Democrats, Republicans and independents all got along.” Members of Congress and presidential candidates were listening. But now it’s time for action. We need all members of Congress to get in the room, stop fighting and start fixing. The only way to make this happen is for you to take action now. Thank you for standing with No Labels. Many thanks, Nancy Jacobson |
