Dear {First Name},
This past year millions of immigrants displayed extraordinary resilience in the face of adversity. They were left out of many COVID-19 economic relief packages while facing major and ongoing challenges such as a lack of a pathway to citizenship
Despite these economic challenges the NYIC achieved historic wins -- a testament to the power of coalition, and our ability to harness the collective strength of diverse partners in pursuit of justice. Some of our recent state and federal successes include:
- Ensuring that all U.S. citizen children of undocumented parents were eligible for stimulus payments as part of the American Rescue Plan.
- Securing a $2.1 billion Excluded Worker Fund in the NYS budget to support up to 290,000 excluded workers who lost jobs due to COVID but weren't eligible for federal assistance due to their immigration status.
- Obtaining $15 million to support communities hardest hit by COVID to promote awareness and education on the vaccine.
- Winning $13.5 million to support AAPI communities.
- Securing other historic key investments for immigrant communities, including $1 billion for small businesses across NYS and $7.8 million reinvestment in adult literacy education, creating opportunities for adult learners.
Your past support demonstrates that your want to help immigrants thrive, so please make your next contribution today.
Now more than ever, we must redouble our efforts to fight for a new and more permanent form of relief and protection for immigrants. The NYIC is calling for ambitious immigration reform to empower and protect immigrants across New York State and the country. In 2022 we need your help to:
- Ensure 400,000 qualifying low-income undocumented immigrant New Yorkers have access to physical and mental healthcare through our Coverage for All campaign.
- Pass the New York for All Act, which requires that our state and local law enforcement resources are not used to help ICE and federal immigration authorities separate immigrant families and sow fear in our communities.
- Push the Access to Representation Act, to create the first-ever statutory right to an attorney for all immigrant New Yorkers facing deportation.
We ask you to join us to support these efforts by making your gift today. Together we can achieve real immigration reform and build a country that values and welcomes immigrants and their contributions. Thank you for your generosity and for standing with us.
In unity,
Murad Awawdeh
