Tell the U.S. Senate:
Legislators in states like Texas, North Carolina, and Georgia are drawing dangerous, gerrymandered congressional maps—silencing voters in an effort to protect their own political power. This is not how our democracy is supposed to work. The Senate must put an end to gerrymandering by doing whatever it takes to pass the Freedom to Vote Act—including reforming the filibuster.

John,
Our democracy is under attack. Right now, voting rights groups are suing to overturn Texas’ heinously gerrymandered new maps. These districts were drawn by the state’s Republican-led legislature. If enacted, they would undermine our democracy by silencing Latino, Black, and AAPI communities―and denying millions of people the resources they need to thrive.
These maps may or may not hold up in court, but the truth is: we never should have gotten here in the first place. Politicians should not be able to pick their voters. Voters should be able to pick their politicians.
Join CHN and a growing coalition of national partners and sign the petition to your senators demanding an end to gerrymandering! Stop letting partisan politicians silence voters!
Texas is far from alone. This year, lawmakers in Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Illinois, and many other states have proposed or passed outrageously gerrymandered maps.
Redistricting is supposed to be about making sure everyone has a voice. But partisan politicians are shamefully abusing the process and making it a tool to undermine our democracy.
Unfair maps, like those proposed in Texas, deny voters a meaningful say in our country and keep people from getting the representation and resources they deserve.
Here’s what we can do about it: the Freedom to Vote Act includes proven solutions to end partisan gerrymandering once and for all. Mitch McConnell, however, cares more about solidifying his own power than protecting our democracy. He is abusing the filibuster to block the bill. Can you sign the petition to the Senate demanding they do whatever it takes to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and end gerrymandering of our congressional districts—including reforming the filibuster?
Thank you for all you do to fight for our democracy and for the needs of working families, the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
