Dear John,

This fall, NeW was excited to open a chapter at the University of Cincinnati. With the strong leadership of Paighton Baker and Erica Roeder, NeW at the University of Cincinnati is making an impact on campus.

In an article on October 31 ([link removed]) , The News Record, a campus paper, featured their chapter and the women who started it.
“To be a member of something so new and different means a lot to me,” Baker, President of NeW at UC, said in the article. “I have always felt silenced since attending UC due to my beliefs. I finally decided that I deserve to speak my mind, despite those who encouraged me not to. I have been mocked by professors and shunned by fellow classmates. This only fueled my desire to speak up even more.”

Baker and Roeder shared that their NeW at UC chapter is looking forward to bringing intellectual diversity to their campus as well as “empower[ing] our members politically, professionally, and socially.”
Paighton Baker and Erica Roeder at the NeW Leadership Retreat this summer.
Roeder, Vice-President of NeW at UC, told the reporter, “We are big on opportunity feminism, which is focusing on the great things women have been accomplishing rather than on what ‘oppresses’ or ‘restrains’ them. Something you’ll find with us that many groups lack is objectivity. We can discuss issues from diverse perspectives, conservative or not, and find common ground on what is real and best for our country.”

NeW at the University of Cincinnati is already doing great things on campus and we look forward to seeing their continued success.

Best wishes,

NeW on Campus
On October 28, NeW at The George Washington University had a paper pumpkin crafting party. While they put together paper pumpkins, the women discussed prominent issues in the news and ways the media inaccurately portrays conservative women.

Also on October 28, NeW at Xavier University enjoyed pumpkin painting during their weekly meeting. Women painted pumpkins for their dorm rooms while talking about the issues they care about most.

On October 29, NeW at the University of Virginia hosted Emily Jashinsky, NeW alumna and Culture Editor for The Federalist. She joined the e-board for dinner at Mellow Mushroom and then gave an inspiring presentation about how to best advocate for conservative principles on campus. Jashinsky shared with the attendees ways to talk about conservative principles in a positive way that persuades others and welcomes more individuals into greater understanding of these values. The women thoroughly enjoyed having her speak to their chapter.
