If there's one thing my work has taught me, friend, it's that public service – and politics – is a lot like running.
That's because it isn't just about race day (or Election Day, for that matter). Being successful in running means logging the miles and putting in the work, every single day – even when things are hard.
I know a thing or two about long-distance running. My husband Bart and I set a goal to run a race in each of the 50 states before we turned 50. Together, we logged the miles and crossed the finish lines in states across the nation; these were incredible experiences I'll never forget.
In this election, I know my endurance will be tested, too. The GOP has already pegged my seat as a top target, and my two self-funding opponents are spending big money to flip this seat red. On top of that, there have already been TV, radio, and digital ads against me.
Here's the thing: Running isn't actually a solo sport. Every runner has a team behind them, cheering them on and helping them keep pace – which is why I'm reaching out to ask you to join our grassroots movement right now.
With your help, we'll be able to mobilize voters, spread our positive message, and continue on this path of progress. Please, friend, can I count on you to pitch in $5 ahead of our midnight deadline? Every dollar you give will go straight to defending this battleground seat from extremist Republicans.

Just like my last marathon, I know this election will test me – mentally and physically. But I also know that just when I think we've hit a wall, I'll be able to dig deep and find hidden reserves of strength deep inside – all thanks to your support.
Thank you, friend.
As always, there is work to be done,
Chrissy
