As the first delegate of a U.S. territory to serve as an impeachment manager earlier this year, I know what it’s like to make some history, and my friend Yvette D. Clarke is no different. She is currently the only Black woman representing the state of New York in Congress.

Together, Yvette and I have been leading the charge to get us past this pandemic by making the vaccine available and accessible to everyone, making a once-in-a-generation historic investment into our families and communities, supporting the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, and passing meaningful criminal justice and policing reform.

I am also so proud to work with Yvette, who serves as Co-Chair with me of the House Caribbean Caucus, on many issues that are uniquely affecting my community here in the Virgin Islands, like the rights of people in the territories to access Social Security and Medicare and supporting our brothers and sisters in Haiti through the difficult year that they’ve had.

As two Black women leading the fight in Congress, Yvette and I have already made so much history together, but we can’t stop now!
