Women in the New American Majority (NAM) have always put in the work – going above and beyond to create lasting change in our communities and our country as a whole. That means NAM women lead from experience that truly matters. So it’s past time to amplify their voices and put them at the helm of our democracy.

That’s why we’re thrilled to celebrate our powerhouse alums breaking barriers, achieving historic firsts, and steering our communities towards deeply inclusive, equitable, and care-centered futures. We’re so excited for you to meet them.

TANIA ANDERSON

BOSTON CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 7

Anderson won a landslide victory this year to become Boston’s first Muslim-American city councilor-elect. She is also the first African immigrant elected to the Boston City Council. Anderson holds a lifelong passion for mental health – serving the community as a social worker and nonprofit leader with a special focus on youth, victims of police violence, and survivors of sexual assault. Reflecting on her win, Anderson is ready and willing to "kick ass, do well, and work hard."

MIA BONTA

CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY, DISTRICT 18

Education was a personal lifeline for Bonta, and so she brings an unshakeable dedication to her advocacy for students and families. Through her service as a nonprofit leader, PTA member, school site council member and an active community participant, Bonta has seen the ways state systems fail those they’re meant to serve. Now, as a staunch advocate for students and working families, Bonta continues to “push open California’s door of opportunity” for people of all backgrounds.

With every election cycle, it’s clearer and clearer that our country is ready to elevate women of the New American Majority to positions of real leadership and decision-making power in our communities.

But transforming the face of politics won’t happen overnight, and we need your help to build our programs and equip NAM women in every state with the tools and strategies they need to run for office and win. Will you join us by donating $5 now to help Emerge recruit, train, and elect women up and down the ballot in every state?

Emerge is a national organization working to recruit, train, and get Democratic women elected across the country, and we are so grateful to have you on our team. Our alums are strong voices for Democratic values — and they are running up and down the ballot to fight for working families. They are fighting for critical issues that affect our communities, such as the environment, accessible and affordable health care, social justice, and education equity. We need more alums fighting for us across the country.

You may notice that we send a lot of emails asking for your support — that’s because we win when everyone does what they can to help. Our organization depends on thousands of actual people who care about our democracy and want to see positive change in our communities and across our country by building power through investing in Democratic women. If you’d like to donate, click here.
