Why is it that Joe Manchin, a Democrat, is able to hold hostage key legislation our country needs to address the big crises we face from voting rights to climate change to income inequality?
The answer is simple: there are not enough good Democrats in the Senate.
The good news is that in 2022, we can bring an end to Manchin’s continued obstruction of social and economic progress simply by electing progressive Senators in Republican-held states across the country, from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
This means that without even beating Manchin directly, we can take away his power.
Just imagine a Senate that serves the American people instead of the interests of corporations, billionaires, and the outrageously wealthy.
This time next year, we can have a progressive Senate that does just that, but it will require us to organize for the long term.
So if we really want to bring an end to the reality that one or two Senators can block the agenda of their entire party and a majority of the country, then we must do more than vote once a year, we have to organize year-round.
So I have to ask, will you commit to supporting DFA throughout 2022? By donating just a few bucks every month, you allow us to plan and budget for the long term, giving us all the resources we need to reduce Manchin’s power and Save the Senate.
