Dear friend,
Being home for the holiday season is one of the best parts of the year for many of us. The winter break is a time to spend with family, friends, pets, and other loved ones. It’s a chance to rest and choose how we spend our time. Everyone deserves the chance to be home for the holidays — but too many people with disabilities remain trapped in institutions. That’s why ASAN works every day to increase access to home- and community-based services (HCBS), which allow our disabled community members to come home. Will you support our fight for HCBS?
HCBS is a lifeline for many people with disabilities. This year, we fought for HCBS in many ways. We pushed to keep HCBS in the Build Back Better Act, ensuring the largest-ever federal investment in these services. We created toolkits about HCBS, long term services and supports, and the importance of quality services. We welcomed a discussion draft of the HCBS Access Act and advocated for permanent funding of Money Follows the Person.
We’re taking these steps and more, because we believe our people must be free. Every year, the disability community’s advocacy moves us closer to a world where everyone has what they need to live at home. You’re a key part of making that happen. Through your activism, your calls to your elected officials, and your donations, you help us bring people home. We’re grateful to advocate alongside you.
Sincerely,
