All throughout 2021, our teams of attorneys, advocates, and volunteers fought back against an ongoing wave of attacks against civil liberties – from blocking 20 abortion bans and restrictions to earning the release of 48,000 people from prisons and jails to protecting the free speech of 50 million students and far beyond, all amidst the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 crisis.

As a supporter of the ACLU, you made that fight possible at every turn.

But as 2022 nears, you and I both know that we can't rest on these victories – because opponents of a more equitable America are already planning new, state-by-state assaults on just about every fundamental freedom we hold dear.

That's why I'm reaching out today to launch the ACLU's 2022 Action Fund and urge you to help us meet a critical goal – by being one of 52,000 supporters giving to our fund by December 31.

Our 2022 Action Fund will serve as a critical pool of resources that ACLU teams will depend on in the year ahead as we continue to work to defend democracy in what will be yet another transformative election year. And 52,000 is the powerful number of donors it will take to ensure those resources are as strong as this fight requires.

Your year-end gift will be immediately put to use to help the ACLU:

• Defend access to abortion
• Challenge racially motivated voter suppression
• Work to dismantle white supremacy
• Press for transgender justice
• Demand action on immigrants' rights
• Protect free speech for all

There's so much at stake in the year ahead, and I don't, for a minute, underestimate the severe threats we'll be facing against our civil liberties.

But I also don't underestimate the power of ACLU supporters – because you've shown time and time again that you're willing to have our back in the toughest of circumstances.

And the entire ACLU team – from the national office to our affiliates in every state along with D.C. and Puerto Rico – is counting on you showing that strength again by making as generous a donation as you can to the 2022 Action Fund before the December 31 deadline.
