All over the country, people are voting, and we couldn't be more thrilled. Our volunteers and staff are taking clients to the polls in Virginia, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and more. Our election guides (spreadthevote.org/guides) are being downloaded and shared, and we're answering questions from voters trying to make sure they can get to the polls today. It's a good day.
It's also a frustrating day. I received a message from a black woman in Virginia who tried to vote with a valid ID, was rejected, and had to vote with a provisional ballot. This won't be the only story of voter suppression today, and it is a small example of what we'll see less than a year from now, in 2020. But, luckily, Spread The Vote is a known resource now and people know they can call us to get the help they need.
We're working today, tomorrow, and every day to make sure that every American can vote, and we can't do it without your help.
Today is the first of many election days in the next year. Can you help us make sure that everyone's voice can be heard at the polls, every single time?
Thank you, and happy election day!
