Merry Christmas!
Our nation is unsettled in this Christmas season. Incomprehensible things
are occurring in Washington under a Biden administration seemingly bent on
undermining our constitution and the values by which we have traditionally
lived.
But, nevertheless, at this time of year, the nation perseveres to celebrate
a miraculous event 2,000 years ago.
Recall that the Spanish Flu epidemic created turmoil
at Christmas 1918. People suffered through mask mandates and lockdowns.
Merchants, eager to cash in on holiday gift buying, fretted that their
supply chains wouldn’t hold up. Perhaps the best symbol of that year was
the Ohio state health commissioner warning: “Beware the mistletoe.”
Sound familiar?
Still, the people endured. They celebrated Christmas.
So let us ignore the mean-spirited rhetoric
blowing from the White House today and, again, look back a century ago. In
his 1922 Christmas message
to the country, President Calvin Coolidge promoted hope for our country on
this holy day.
When the first Christmas came to mankind it ... established the foundation
of the civilization of the Western world. Through all the shifting changes
of more than nineteen centuries this revelation has remained, constant,
unshaken, secure.... Persevere and go forward, obedient to the divine
instruction: ‘Be ye constant in well doing.’ That way lies our promised
peace and good will of which the angels sang with joy as they beheld the
miracle of the first Christmas. The mission of America is to make that
vision a reality.
“Fear not!” The Bible repeats this 365
times. It is a good admonishment for us as we move into a new year.
Merry Christmas to you and yours from all of us here at Judicial Watch, and
a happy New Year!
Until Next Week...
